This dish is interesting because it does not contain the ingredients that we are used to considering the basis of a salad: meat or poultry, sausage or fish, potatoes and carrots. It consists of products that usually complement the overall picture. These are onions, nuts, apples and cheese. And yet the salad turns out to be very self-sufficient, tasty and universal. In addition, it looks very beautiful. To make the layers visible, put it in a transparent salad bowl or on a plate using a culinary ring.
Royal Salad with Walnuts
This salad stands out because it skips traditional main ingredients like meat, poultry, fish, or root vegetables. Instead, it highlights components that typically play a supporting role—onions, nuts, apples, and cheese—coming together to create a dish that is both flavorful and satisfying. Despite its simplicity, it feels complete, offering a perfect balance of textures and tastes. Plus, its vibrant layers make for an eye-catching presentation. For the best visual effect, serve it in a transparent bowl or use a culinary ring to shape it neatly on a plate.

GETTING READY
-
Wash the apples. Peel the onions. Prepare a transparent salad bowl or culinary ring.
STEP 1
-
Chop the onion into cubes or thin quarters of rings. Lay out the first layer.
STEP 2
-
Boil the eggs hard for 10 minutes in boiling water. Peel and grate on a coarse grater. Spread over the onion. Spread with 0.5 tbsp sour cream.
STEP 3
-
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Put it as a third layer, also spreading half of the remaining sour cream.
STEP 4
-
Peel the apple. Grate the pulp on a coarse grater, without touching the core with seeds. Spread over the cheese and spread with the rest of the sour cream.
STEP 5
-
Grind the nuts into fine crumbs, but not into dust. Do this with a blender, a rolling pin through a bag, or simply chop with a knife. Sprinkle the salad with nut crumbs.
MAKE AN IMPRESSION
-
Garnish the Royal Salad with walnut halves and basil.
